WALT: Cyclone Bola struck the Hawke's Bay and the Gisborne / East Cape region on the East Coast of the North Island on 7 March 1988. It was one of the most damaging cyclones to hit New Zealand. The cyclone slowed as it moved over the area, resulting in over three days of torrential rain.
